Emmaus Catholic Parish
Early Childhood Education Program
Our Mission
The Emmaus Catholic Parish Early Childhood Education Program is a ministry of Emmaus Catholic Parish, which ministers to their children and families.
Our mission is to create a Christ-centered community for our children where the whole child (spiritual, emotional, physical, intellectual, and social) can thrive and grow in a positive Catholic environment.
We believe children learn best through play. We offer an environment where authentic learning takes place through hands-on learning centers in the classrooms helping children learn about God and the world around them.
Our Goals
· To foster a faith in God, to foster empathy, acceptance, and respect toward self and others.
· To encourage children to think, reason, question, experiment, and develop decision making skills.
· To offer authentic opportunities for children to learn through play.
· To develop centers for learning that nurture a sense of wonder, creativity, problem solving, as well as, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth.
· To foster a loving and safe environment.
Our Curriculum
We are a positive Catholic faith based program. Our classes are open to any child regardless of race, nationality, or religious beliefs. Priority enrollment is given to registered parishioners. The curriculum is designed to the stages of development of each child. Children learn best through play and hands-on activities that encourage experimental learning, also known as “authentic learning.” We believe that children learn through play and absorb concepts of God from people, experiences, and from other people. The curriculum is designed to help the child develop in all facets of life: mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Our parish is a stewardship parish. We follow this example by offering through out the year several opportunities for community involvement and interaction with other ministries within the parish community.
The classroom is established into learning centers. Learning centers include, but are not limited to: art, math/manipulatives, library, science/sensory, outside play, music, dramatic play, and blocks.
Spanish, sign language, cooking, and service projects are also incorporated into the program.
The 2010-2011 School Year begins
Tuesday, September 7th, 2010.
